About Me
My name is Kate McDonnell. I am a part of the Computer Science Education Doctoral program at the University of Florida. I am currently working on my dissertation.
I am a full-time high school computer science teacher. I teach AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, Dual Enrollment Data Structures, and Senior Project. I have also taught Web Design, Game Design, and App Development. I teach part time in person and part time online. I am also the FIRST Robotics Competition sponsor at my high school. I am a Reader for AP Computer Science A each summer.
I am also a PD facilitator for the AP Computer Science A curriculum CSAwesome. Each summer, I train teachers who are new to AP Computer Science A and/or CSAwesome. I also write free materials to support teachers throughout the year, and I wrote the automated feedback system in the book, so that every time a student runs a coding assignment, they get feedback regarding whether or not their code works and why.
In my "free time," I like to read, build LEGO, and travel. I also have a weekly trivia team.
